Haha the slups that paid out the nose for soemthing they THOUGHT was exclusive now have just brown stuff left on their noses. hahahahahaaha I got GWEN for less than $20 in a store, got the BOX and a nice MAP and all kinds of goodies in the box and just waited this out. I expected NCsoft to pull some crap like this and I was right though I really didn't want them to I knew they would do it "for the money" eventually and screw everyone that bought through their store. I saved $20 overall while others paid through the nose. hahahaha

Hello, let me introduce myself. I am the concept of bait and switch. Many companies will use me in their marketing to release an item that is understood by the public to be a one time limited offer, which I assist them in making a lot of money they would not have made otherwise. Then, I turn around and, presto-chango! A few weeks/months later the same product is released again, but the company denies my use because they had never actually confirmed that it was a one time offer, only understood by the public as one. I was happy to help in the release of the bonus mission pack, and I have no doubt we'll meet again. Ciao.
My Humble Opinion:
Arenanet should have done more to stifle rumors that it was exclusive if it's Rep is so hard up on the fact that they never claimed that it was, and if she wants to hold claims previously made that Arenanet is not like other money grubbing companies. No offense Gaile, but seriously, if it was not Exclusive and it was understood that it was, more should have been done if Arenanet wants to send these new messages or release the BMP for sale.

Online Store: GW:EN was £29.99 (£24.99 after the £5 preorder pack) and i got BMP for FREE
GAME (UK store): GW:EN was retailed at £29.99
For the same price I got the BMP instead of a box, a 16 page manual and a map...
And I feel better because ANet/NCSoft got more of my cash instead of the middleman and I got an extra 4 repeatable missions and cool new weapons...

The only thing saving Guild Wars is the fact it's free to play. If it's pay-to-play with bonuses, then it loses some luster. Sadly, I think that's the direction that GW2 is headed towards - some kind of free-to-play "basic" Guild Wars 2, and a "leet" Guild Wars where you have to pay for extra content.
|
Although I generally think you of more even minded, I can't let this one go Mord .
There is a large difference between the BMP and the SF free addition. The BMP is exclusive, non-character cannonical material. As in: You can play the BMP as much as you damn well please, but it won't affect your character beyond being able to weild a few more shineys to show off. The SF had a massive impact on gameplay and material that your permanent characters could play in and evolve in. BMP (regardless of some peoples notion that bonus = free or that promotion = limited to one time only) only affects the permanent world by adding non-gameplay altering, "unfarmable", non-economy changing aesthetics. Therefore I feel that there can be a charge for it since it isn't game-altering.
I agree, since we aren't the "evil geniouses" in charge of ANet, that they could be using this as a vehicle for pay2play content, but I honestly think its merely aesthetic in nature while adding a fun little non-permanent side story to the game. It is not near the immersion factor of SF, but if they did charge for say, a new explorable area where Orr used to be and charged 10 dollars for that to have my main characters access, then I would dissapointed because that is merely pay2play in one form.
And since ANet is so adamant about their business plan, I doubt we will see that.
As for all the QQ about being lied to and all that fun stuff, I don't even want to stick my test the waters, thats hornets nest of overextended soothsayers and zealous defenders of the way.

Maybe for you.
Don't assume that everywhere else had a cheaper price than the online price, because your area did.
It was 40-46.99 around where I live.

All i have to say is if you didnt SEE THIS COMING, then you are a complete R-Tard. Think it threw, Anet is producing a brand new game atm, they are putting all of their work into GW2 and are exsentialy going to stop working on GW. People are greedy, and they are going to want more money in the long run, and they are sitting on some missions that half the fanbase wants, and are willing to buy. You cant tell me you honestly didnt see this coming.

So they actually did it......
So are they just gonna rename it to the mission pack rather than bonus mission pack?

I'm just so happy that I wasn't forced to spend money at a time that wasn't convenient for me. Now I only have to spend $10 at my leisure when you guys sunk $30. Sucks for you guys.
Offering the BMP for sale is the most amazing thing to happen to Guild Wars. Prove me wrong.

can't go wrong when such a banner camps your game login window
|
Unless you werent playing GW when the offer was valid, but have since bought everything because you love the game, for me the banner on the log in screen for a game i wasnt playing yet didnt help much.

People bought Iphones for 800 dollars was it?
Then apple dropped the price about 2 months after its release
People bought the PS3 for 800 now its 400 to 500
Same with xbox360
Same with the latest technology like graphics card and motherboards
OMFG I got it first...the price has to stay the same
Why is it 9$'s now T_T
Expect price drops whenever your a first release buyer
That is all.

You could have gotten it from Amazon.com just like I did for less than $20 the last couple of months. If you want to be first inline you have to pay the price, if you don't mind being near the end you get reasonable deals and pay half or less of the price. So, don't go QQing about how much it was in your area. Learn to have patience and wait and you'll get the same products everyone else gets for 1/2 or a 3rd of the price they pay.

Well I gues it's good for me (although there is still the payment issue)
Bad for those who thought that this pack will be an exclusive offer.
Is it worth the money anyway?

That analogy doesn't work. Let me know when you realize why.

But we couldn't wait. The BMP promo had an ending with no reason to believe it would ever be available to obtain later. Those who waited are getting more product than those who didn't, regardless of the price.

10 bucks for 4 (maybe 5) missions that are based on the bits of backstory GW has created for itself, reward for completed quest your choice from a long list of "perfect" weapons with nice skins but no mods that are customized for you so you can not sell or trade them....totally worth a ten spot to me, no second thoughts about it.
Have spent the most of my GW time so far in nightfall, cant wait to play the Turai Ossa versus Palawa Joko story.

I felt that ever since they added the online store.

They really don't need to sell content like the BMP, how do you think they got the money to make the game in the first place?

I can’t say I feel sorry for all of them, they got what they deserved. I like people who will blindly throw money they don’t need my way. What’s worse is that everyone who wanted to waste money asked for it. What’s even better is that everyone will ask for the same stuff for GW2.

I can't afford to blindly throw money at anyone, which is why I spent months deciding what I was going to do. I decided the better deal was to buy online to get the BMP at the sacrifice of getting a physical box to proudly display next to all the CEs. I was wrong in my decision.

Really, I don't care about the BMP being offered now, what I don't like was/is the way they promoted it. They gave the impression that if you did not take the BMP at that time you would miss it.
People cannot read and interpreter every words trying to discover hidden meaning, come on Anet be more clear in the future. I do not wish to have to check every words, like you do before you sign a contract, for every promotions they will offer.
Meh, my trust for them is really low at this moment.
